Six employees recognized across architecture, civil engineering, safety and landscaping
Company aims to boost morale and preserve technical expertise as institutional asset
Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced Wednesday that it has introduced a "Master Craftsman" recognition program for employees this year for the first time, naming six inaugural honorees.
The program was designed to identify and reward core talent who have quietly dedicated themselves to building deep expertise in the company's key fields. The aim is to raise employee pride while systematically preserving the technical knowledge and know-how accumulated over years of experience, strengthening the company's overall competitiveness.
The selection process involved multiple stages to ensure rigorous vetting. Candidates first submitted applications, which the human resources team screened for basic qualifications and career requirements in a first review. A second review assessed specialized expertise through detailed evaluations by job category. A final committee then conducted a comprehensive assessment to select the top six honorees across their respective fields.
This year's honorees are practitioners who have demonstrated strong expertise across four job categories: architecture, civil engineering, safety and landscaping. They will be appointed as in-house instructors and will directly pass on their years of hands-on experience and core know-how to colleagues and junior employees.
Meanwhile, Daewoo Engineering & Construction held an orientation ceremony the same day for 64 new hires joining in the second half of the year. The recruits were hired across four areas: 31 in civil engineering, 15 in architecture, 14 in safety (CSO) and four in global infrastructure. The company particularly expanded its frontline safety management workforce by taking on a large number of new CSO hires in this round.
"The Master Craftsman program was created to recognize and encourage the expertise of employees who have devoted themselves to their roles," a company official said. "We hope the new employees who joined today will inherit the know-how of their sunbae honorees and grow into the master craftsmen of the future."
The official added that the company would "actively support talented employees throughout the organization so they can receive the recognition and pride they deserve, while continuing to deliver outstanding quality and value to customers based on their refined expertise."
Daewoo Engineering & Construction has also set "Hyper E&C — A Challenge for the Future" as its management vision for this year, framing it as a new direction for sustainable management. The company identified three core values to realize that vision: Hyper Safety, Hyper Quality and Hyper Connect.
