KSD Nanum Foundation donates 100 million won to cover medical costs for vulnerable children

The KSD Nanum Foundation, the charitable arm of Korea Securities Depository, announced Thursday that it has donated 100 million won ($64,600) to Green Umbrella, a children's welfare organization, to help cover medical expenses for children from vulnerable households.

The donation aims to support children from low-income families who struggle to access adequate treatment despite South Korea's public health coverage system.

The foundation screened applicants from April through May and selected 26 children for support. The recipients include children with serious or rare diseases as well as those requiring treatment for developmental delays or mental health conditions. Each child is set to receive between 3 million and 5 million won in medical expenses.

The KSD Nanum Foundation supports children and youth through scholarship programs, financial education initiatives and assistance for socially disadvantaged groups. Korea Securities Depository established the foundation in 2009 with the aim of returning the company's gains from the capital markets to society.

Earlier, on June 25, the foundation announced that it had donated 70 million won through Green Umbrella in September 2025 to improve educational conditions in the Yeka district of Ethiopia, and that the related education facility was completed in May.

"We hope our children will grow up healthy and pursue their dreams freely," said Lee Yun-su, chairman of the KSD Nanum Foundation. "We will continue to explore various ways to support children in need."
