Gunwi-gun in North Gyeongsang Province announced Wednesday that Pajeon-ri in Uiheung-myeon has been selected for the 2027 Rural Vulnerable Area Lifestyle Improvement Project.
The project is a national competitive grant program administered by the Presidential Commission on Local Era, a body directly under the president.
The selection marks the county's 12th consecutive year of being chosen since the program launched in 2015, bringing the total to 15 areas and securing about 28 billion won ($18 million) in project funding to date.
The newly designated site of Pajeon-ri in Uiheung-myeon is set to receive about 2.05 billion won over four years beginning in 2027.
The funds will go toward upgrading deteriorated housing and village environments, building basic infrastructure for daily living, safety and sanitation, and running human-care and community capacity-building programs to revitalize the local community.
"This selection reflects the long-held wishes of Pajeon-ri residents," Gunwi-gun Mayor Kim Jin-yeol said. "We expect a significant improvement in residents' quality of life, from expanding living infrastructure to restoring community bonds."
