The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), led by President Yoo Seung-min, announced Thursday that it has distributed guidelines on advertising appearances and uniform and equipment regulations for South Korea's national team athletes competing at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Summer Asian Games.
The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) applies the principles of the International Olympic Committee's Olympic Charter to protect the commercial value of the Asian Games and the rights of official sponsors, while safeguarding the interests of participants. The KSOC developed the guidelines to help athletes, coaches, officials, sports federations, official sponsors and non-sponsors easily understand and comply with the relevant rules.
Under the guidelines, participants at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games may appear in generic advertising by non-sponsors during the competition period — Sept. 16 to Oct. 6, 2026 — provided they meet certain requirements and obtain prior approval from the KSOC.
Non-sponsors must begin running their advertisements before July 28, which is 50 days before the Games open, and must submit an approval application and advertising plan to the KSOC's marketing department by July 21. The guidelines also cover detailed rules to be observed during the competition period, including standards for athletes' social media activity and criteria for posting thank-you messages directed at non-sponsors.
The uniform and equipment guidelines address specifics in line with international regulations, including a ban on promotional markings on uniforms and equipment, standards for displaying manufacturer logos, and dress requirements for medal ceremonies and official interviews.
The KSOC urged athletes and sports federations to familiarize themselves with the relevant rules from the uniform and equipment production stage onward, to prevent any disadvantages that could arise at international competitions.
