A snake measuring more than 1 meter in length was found inside an apartment living room in Gyeonggi Province.
According to fire department authorities, a report came in at around 10:03 p.m. Tuesday that a snake over 1 meter long had been discovered in the living room of an apartment unit in Deokgye-dong, Yangju, Gyeonggi Province.
Firefighters who responded to the call captured the snake. No one was injured.
The resident said they had been lying in the living room when they heard a strange noise under a blanket and lifted it to find the snake. "I wasn't bitten, but I was so shocked it was almost traumatic," the resident said.
The resident said the snake did not belong to them and appeared to be a black kingsnake, a species commonly kept as a pet. They added that a shed skin was found near the bathroom toilet, suggesting the snake may have entered through the toilet or drainage pipes, and that it likely belonged to a resident in a nearby unit.
Meanwhile, fire department authorities released the captured snake at a nearby stream away from residential areas and with little foot traffic.
