SH to supply new public housing types, including 'Baronaezip,' in line with Oh Se-hoon's city agenda

The Seoul Housing & Communities Corp. (SH) held its "SH Future Vision Forum" at the company's main auditorium Thursday, sharing its key project plans and development direction in line with Seoul Metropolitan Government policy.

"The corporation is continuously advancing public housing supply, redevelopment projects and urban development in line with Seoul's policy direction," SH President Hwang Sang-ha said. "Going forward, we will work closely with the philosophy of the 9th elected-term administration under Mayor Oh Se-hoon and with the Seoul Metropolitan Council — the representative body of citizens — to carry out projects that improve residents' quality of life and strengthen the city's competitiveness without disruption."

SH relaunched last July under its current name, Seoul Housing & Communities Corp., expanding its mandate to encompass urban development and regional economic revitalization. The corporation plans to broaden related projects in line with the 9th elected-term administration's policy direction.

SH plans to supply new public housing types — including "Baronaezip" and rental dormitories — alongside the Seoul Metropolitan Government's youth housing policy "Theudreamjip+," providing support tailored to the residential needs of young people.

The corporation will also move to supply affordable senior housing in response to South Korea's super-aged society. It aims to deliver 1,000 units of Seoul-style residential facilities — integrated with meal, leisure and health-care services — by 2031.

Support for redevelopment projects will also increase. SH will expand verification of management and disposal plan feasibility to help shorten project timelines and support Seoul's goal of breaking ground on 310,000 units by 2031.

In urban development, SH will advance projects aligned with Seoul's five regional development strategies. In the central zone, SH will pursue a green ecological urban strategy for the Sewoon district and execute the "three-dimensional vertical city" vision for the Yongsan International Business District. In the northeast, it will develop the Changdong K-entertainment town and realize Seoul Digital Biotech City. In the northwest, it will create a culture and tourism hub centered on the Sangam observation wheel. In the southwest, it will deregulate semi-industrial zones and convert them to a research and development cluster. In the southeast, it will establish an industrial cluster anchored by the Gangdong general industrial complex.

SH will also continue major development projects including the Great Han River Project, the Seoripul district, the Songpa Creative Innovation District, and the Guryong, Seongdwi and Baeksa village redevelopments. The corporation is also expanding its Long-term Jeonse Housing 2 program, aimed at easing the housing burden on newlywed couples in Seoul.
