Field inspections by division to wrap up July 10
The transition committee for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Governor Woo Sang-ho is still operating after his inauguration ceremony.
Transition committees typically conclude their work just before a governor takes office, but Woo's committee has gone beyond desk work to conduct on-site inspections across the province.
Each division is simultaneously receiving work briefings and conducting field inspections to closely review the province's key pending issues, the committee said Wednesday. It is focusing in particular on the effectiveness and direction of policies related to stabilizing livelihoods, revitalizing the regional economy and securing future growth engines.
The committee also plans to compile opinions and on-the-ground feedback raised during the briefing process to identify policy tasks that residents can tangibly feel, and to accelerate preparation of action plans for swift implementation after the ninth elected provincial administration takes office.
Committee chair Kim Heon-yeong said Wednesday that the committee "is carefully reviewing all policies from the perspective of provincial residents and will bring about real change by fully reflecting the views of experts and people in the field." He added that the committee would "prepare without fail the blueprint for the new provincial administration that residents are expecting."
The committee plans to review campaign pledges at its third plenary session and hold preliminary discussions on final results before concluding its activities on July 10.
