Nowon-gu District Mayor Seo Jun-oh conducted emergency inspections of major construction sites in the district Thursday morning to assess readiness for summer downpours and heat waves.
At his first stop, the construction site of the new Junggye Community Sports Center, Seo toured spaces designated for a swimming pool, gymnasium and fitness center, closely reviewing construction progress. He focused particularly on safety measures to prevent summer accidents and on flood and storm preparedness ahead of the full onset of the rainy season.
Seo then moved to the Kwangwoon University Station transit-oriented area development project site, set to become a new hub for the northeastern part of the city, where he conducted a proactive safety inspection using advanced technology.
The inspection featured drones, which provided real-time, high-precision monitoring of blind spots that workers could not easily check with the naked eye, enhancing the overall effectiveness of safety management.
"The safety of our residents is the highest value that cannot be traded for anything," Seo said. "Please make every effort to thoroughly prepare safety measures for workers and residents against heavy summer rain and heat waves, and proactively eliminate disaster risks such as ground subsidence and retaining wall collapses, so that not a single safety accident occurs."
