Company says product combines a physical barrier with stem cell culture medium to protect damaged skin
Daewoong Pharma has launched Beazom, a wound dressing designed to protect damaged skin in animals.
The product received approval from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and is now officially available in South Korea. Co-developed with affiliate Siseal Bio (CEO Yoo Hyun-seung), Beazom is classified as an adhesive transparent wound dressing for veterinary use — a medical device.
Beazom is designed to protect the skin of companion animals whose skin barrier has been compromised by first-degree burns, dryness or wounds, while also preventing contamination. The company said the dressing adheres closely to the affected area to form a physical protective layer, preventing the wound from drying out and maintaining an optimal moisture environment.
The stem cell culture medium in the product is rich in exosomes and growth factors beneficial to skin health, working in synergy with the physical barrier to shield skin from external stimuli, the company added. This delivers an advanced barrier care solution to damaged skin. Beazom will be supplied to veterinary clinics nationwide through the retail network of Daewoong Pet, a companion animal healthcare company.
"We have expanded our companion animal healthcare product lineup into the veterinary medical device space," Daewoong Pharma said. "We filed for approval of a new drug for canine atopy earlier this year and will continue to expand treatment options for companion animals."
