Son Dam-bi defends bubble play in hotel room after backlash

Singer and actor Son Dam-bi has found herself at the center of a public etiquette debate after posting photos of herself blowing soap bubbles inside a hotel room with her daughter. Son said she wiped the floor clean with towels afterward.

Son shared the photos on her social media Sunday while vacationing in Sokcho, Gangwon Province. The images showed her and her daughter blowing soap bubbles inside their accommodation.

Online commenters were quick to criticize the activity. "Blowing soap bubbles in a place used by so many people is inconsiderate," one user wrote. Others said cleaning staff should not have to deal with the mess, and warned that the floor could become slippery.

Son responded on the same platform that day. "A lot of people are worried about the bubble play — I wiped the entire floor with towels," she said.

Son married former national speed skating team member Lee Gyu-hyeok in 2022 and gave birth to a daughter last year.
