Gwangmyeong City has launched the second-half 2026 edition of its Gwangmyeong Huimang Ttingdong welfare outreach program, which will run through Nov. 27.
The program sends workers directly to households in need — including people with severe disabilities who have difficulty moving around, elderly residents living alone, and middle-aged single-person households — to check on their wellbeing and deliver donated goods.
In the second half of this year, the city plans to run a parallel initiative called "Chajaganeun Geunyang Deurim," aimed at proactively identifying households in crisis and connecting them with immediate welfare services, with the goal of building a tighter community care network.
The second-half team consists of seven members organized into three two-person units, each working closely with district administrative welfare centers across designated zones. The teams will carefully assess residents' health conditions and living situations, and serve as a bridge connecting high-risk individuals with public and private welfare resources — including integrated care services — as quickly as possible.
Before field activities began, the city held a pre-deployment training session Monday at the city hall conference room, covering program operations, safety protocols, heat-wave response measures and monitoring of households at risk of dying alone.
"We will build a welfare safety net where no citizen is left behind, through tailored care," Mayor Park Seung-won said.
