Three teenage girls have been booked on charges of assaulting a peer and subjecting her to cruel treatment.
The Gimpo Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said Monday it had booked three teenage girls on aggravated assault charges and was investigating the case.
The suspects are accused of punching a teenage girl, identified only as A, multiple times on a street in Gochon-eup, Gimpo, at around 1:40 a.m. Monday.
A told police that during the attack she was also subjected to a cruel act in which blue tape was pressed onto her face and then ripped off.
Officers who responded to A's call arrested two of the suspects at the scene as they attempted to flee. Police completed a preliminary investigation, confirmed their identities and handed them over to their guardians.
Police believe one of the suspects had been acquainted with A before the incident and plan to investigate the full circumstances of the case.
