Cheongsong Cultural Tourism Foundation to hold white porcelain photo exhibition

The Cheongsong Cultural Tourism Foundation announced Tuesday that it will hold a staged photography exhibition on Cheongsong white porcelain, titled "Memories That Lingered in Light," at the small art gallery on the first floor of the Namgwan Lifestyle Culture Center from Thursday through July 30.

Cheongsong white porcelain is a prized cultural asset shaped over generations by the region's soil, water, fire and the hands of skilled artisans.

The exhibition — the first of its kind — presents photographic works capturing the beauty of Cheongsong white porcelain, its production process, the artisans' craft and the scenery of the Cheongsong White Porcelain Transmission Center.

The works document not only the finished forms of the porcelain but also the stages leading up to them — shaping the clay, applying glaze and waiting for the kiln's fire. They convey the sense of time and place embedded in each piece and the value of a tradition passed down through human hands.

Through the light, texture and atmosphere captured in the photographs, visitors can experience the clear, restrained aesthetic of Cheongsong white porcelain and the distinctive character of the region.

Yun Gyeong-hui, chairperson of the Cheongsong Cultural Tourism Foundation and head of Cheongsong-gun, said she hopes the exhibition will raise awareness of the value of Cheongsong white porcelain and help establish the small art gallery at the Namgwan Lifestyle Culture Center as a cultural hub for both local residents and tourists.
