Hyundai Steel said Tuesday it held a customer forum called "Customers Day" during the World Rally Championship (WRC) Greece Rally.
At the event, the steelmaker promoted its capabilities across three areas: automotive steel supply stability, readiness for the EU's new tariff rate quota (TRQ) regime and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and the strengths of its high-value-added strategic products, including carbon-reduced steel sheets — which cut carbon emissions by more than 20 percent compared with its own blast-furnace products — and third-generation automotive steel sheets. The company also expressed strong ambitions to contribute to the competitiveness of its customers' businesses.
Hyundai Steel focused particularly on explaining its readiness for the EU's new steel TRQ system, which takes effect this month. The company also conveyed its commitment to securing supply stability for key customer volumes as a top priority, even amid global trade regulation risks.
The company introduced its carbon information management system in response to CBAM, which came into full effect this year, drawing a positive reception. Customers were especially receptive to Hyundai Steel's ability to smoothly provide the carbon emissions data that global automakers require.
Hyundai Steel also highlighted its status as the world's first steelmaker to achieve mass production of carbon-reduced steel sheets through a combined electric arc furnace and blast furnace process, while promoting the strengths of high-value-added steel grades such as third-generation automotive steel sheets and reaffirming its commitment to expanding demand in the European market.
"This event was an opportunity to showcase our global technological competitiveness and proactive capabilities in responding to trade regulations, and to strengthen partnerships with our global customers," a Hyundai Steel official said. "We plan to continue expanding touchpoints with customers in key global markets going forward."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Steel President Lee Bo-ryong has been actively engaging with employees through open communication, recently hosting a CEO town hall meeting at the safety culture center of the Dangjin steelworks to share the company's future strategy and discuss changes in the way it works.
