Soldiers to learn smart logistics as Korea Polytechnic, Army depot sign MOU

Korea Polytechnic University and the Army General Supply Depot have launched an education partnership aimed at building smart logistics expertise among active-duty soldiers and supporting their employment and entrepreneurship after discharge.

Korea Polytechnic University signed an MOU with the Army General Supply Depot on Tuesday to jointly develop and deliver customized technical training in smart logistics based on digital transformation (DX) and AI transformation (AX).

Under the agreement, the two institutions will co-develop and operate a smart logistics curriculum, expand technical and hands-on training for soldiers, and share educational facilities and equipment. The program aims to train specialists needed for the digital transformation of military logistics and to support innovation in the Army's supply chain.

Training is already underway. Korea Polytechnic's Changwon campus held a smart logistics job-skills course for soldiers and civilian military employees of supply units under the Army General Supply Depot on June 29. Starting in mid-July, the partnership will expand to the Incheon and Cheongju campuses, where field-oriented training will continue for supply units in each region.

The courses will be conducted at "Kkumderim Gongjakso," Korea Polytechnic's hands-on vocational workshop. The university plans to run practice-focused programs designed not only to strengthen soldiers' job competencies during their service but also to connect them to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities after discharge.

"We will contribute to improving soldiers' professional skills through practical technical education tailored to real-world demand," Korea Polytechnic University Chairman Lee Cheol-su said. "We hope this collaboration becomes an opportunity to extend the university's technical education capabilities into the field of national defense."
