Parata Air has teamed up with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Sports Council to support air travel for the region's athletic delegations, aiming to reduce the burden on athletes and officials attending events such as the National Sports Festival and to broaden cooperation for the development of sports in Gangwon Province.
The airline announced Thursday that it signed an MOU with the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Sports Council at the council's main conference room on Wednesday. Parata Air head of sales and transport Jung Jae-pil and Sports Council Chairman Yang Hee-gu were among the officials present at the signing ceremony.
Under the agreement, Parata Air and the Gangwon Province Sports Council will work together to improve travel convenience for Gangwon athletes and sports officials participating in domestic and international competitions. Parata Air will handle flight ticket booking and issuance support, air transport assistance, and cooperation on the operation of sporting events.
In particular, the two sides plan to streamline the ticket reservation process for delegations preparing for competitions and to establish transport support measures for group travel. The focus is on reducing inconvenience that can arise when travel demand concentrates around competition schedules and on providing a more stable travel environment.
Air connectivity in the Gangwon region has drawn considerable public attention in recent months. Parata Air, which is based at Yangyang Airport, entered emergency management mode amid rising international oil prices and a high exchange rate, but has said its Yangyang–Jeju route will continue to operate normally.
Parata Air said it plans to use the MOU as a springboard to expand cooperative projects linking its air service with regional sports. The Gangwon Province Sports Council also expects that improved travel convenience for delegations will raise the efficiency of competition preparation and operations.

"Through this agreement, we will faithfully fulfill our role as an airline that grows together with society, going beyond the development of Gangwon sports."
