Seoul Youth Center Dongdaemun launches finance and housing programs for young residents

Dongdaemun-gu in Seoul announced it will run a youth-focused economic education program throughout July at Seoul Youth Center Dongdaemun, aimed at helping young residents build financial independence and ease their concerns about housing and personal finance.

The program consists of two components: "My Home Preparation Guide," designed to help young people prepare for homeownership, and "The Great Frugality Contest," aimed at building healthy spending habits. The program was developed around topics that young adults entering the workforce and single-person youth households said they most needed and wanted to know about.

"My Home Preparation Guide" was held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the seminar room on the third floor of Seoul Youth Center Dongdaemun. The session covered practical housing and financial information through real-life case studies, including how to prepare for homeownership with limited funds, key items to check when signing a housing contract, how to use a housing subscription account, and how to navigate the apartment subscription system.

Every Thursday from today through July 30, the participatory program "The Great Frugality Contest" will be held. Participants will assess their own spending habits through household budgeting and consumer pattern analysis.

Meanwhile, Dongdaemun-gu is also running the "2026 Youth Lifestyle Academy" throughout July. The curriculum supports young residents' self-reliance and daily life skills, concentrating on two areas in high demand: economic life — covering real estate, investment and shares — and residential life, covering organization and basic home repairs.

"We plan to continue introducing programs that reflect the diverse interests and needs of young people — not only in finance and housing, but also in employment, entrepreneurship, culture and community," Dongdaemun-gu District Mayor Choi Dong-min said.
