The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open teed off Thursday at the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland, running through Sunday.
The Genesis Scottish Open is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the PGA Tour and is part of the Rolex Series, the DP World Tour's five flagship events.
Genesis has been the official title sponsor of the tournament — which began as the Scottish Open in 1972 — since 2022, and last year extended its sponsorship agreement through 2030.
A field of 156 players from the DP World Tour, PGA Tour and KPGA Korean Tour will compete for the title, including defending champion Chris Gotterup (world No. 13), Scottie Scheffler (world No. 1), Rory McIlroy (world No. 2) and Matt Fitzpatrick (world No. 4).
Korean players in the field include PGA Tour members Kim Si-woo (world No. 22), Lee Min-woo (world No. 39), Kim Joo-hyung (world No. 66) and Lim Sung-jae (world No. 80). Four KPGA Korean Tour players will also participate as Genesis invitees: Lee Jeong-hwan, the 2025 Genesis Championship winner, along with Choi Seung-bin, Ok Tae-hoon and Kim Baek-jun.
The total purse is $9 million, with the winner receiving $1.57 million and a GV60 Magma.
The first player to make a hole-in-one on the 17th hole will receive a GV70 electrified model, while that player's caddie will receive a GV60. The first hole-in-one on the 15th hole will also earn the player a GV60.
Genesis will provide 135 vehicles to support tournament operations throughout the week. The automaker will also display 14 vehicles at various locations around the Renaissance Club, including a GV60 Magma, a GMR-001 hypercar 1:2 scale model, a GV70 electrified model, a G80 electrified model and a GV60.
Also on display during the tournament will be the "Box Buggy" concept car, which made its world debut last month at the Le Mans 24 Hours, one of motorsport's most prestigious endurance races.
Genesis said it will run a range of on-site programs for players, caddies, golf fans and partners, drawing on the brand's core "Sonnim" (guest) philosophy and Korean hospitality culture.
During the tournament, Genesis will operate the Players & Caddies Cafe, a dedicated rest space for players and caddies, offering food and beverage service and Korean-style refreshments tailored to participants' rest and nutritional needs.
This year, Genesis reconfigured the hole sequence at the Renaissance Club and relocated the Genesis Public Lounge — previously near the 6th hole — to the area around the 15th hole, placing it closer to the back-nine drama. The move is intended to give more spectators a prime viewing spot for the tournament's decisive closing stretch.
Genesis also plans to expand fan engagement and strengthen its brand experience through interactive events, including a Genesis golf collection exhibition and a golf simulator program linked to TGL.
"This year's Genesis Scottish Open has been elevated across every aspect of tournament operations, so that players, caddies and gallery alike can enjoy Genesis's differentiated hospitality and premium experience," said Lee Si-hyeok, executive vice president and head of the Genesis Business Division. "In particular, we have completely restructured the hole sequence at the Renaissance Club course to add unpredictable tension right up to the final moment, and we expect to deliver a world-class golf viewing experience."
Meanwhile, Genesis has been actively expanding its golf marketing footprint. In February, it successfully wrapped up the 2026 Genesis Invitational on the PGA Tour, a tournament for which it has served as title sponsor for 10 consecutive years.
