Guro-gu is accepting applications for the 21st National Student Robot Competition, to be held Sept. 19 at Yuhan Technical High School.
Now in its 21st year, the competition is organized by the Korea School Robot Education Promotion Association and sponsored by Guro-gu, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Kwangwoon University, among others. The annual national-scale event gives elementary, middle and high school students a platform to compete in robot building and programming while growing as future science and technology talent.
The competition runs across three categories testing robot design, coding and control. Events include a robot-creation category that evaluates creative ideas and design ability, a robot-coding category in which participants complete tasks revealed on competition day, and a robot-control category that tests wireless remote-control technique.
A total of 61 top-performing teams will receive awards, including prizes presented in the name of the National Assembly Speaker, the Minister of Science and ICT, the Minister of Education and the Guro-gu district mayor.
Results will be announced in October through the Korea School Robot Education Promotion Association's website.
Registration is open to elementary, middle and high school students nationwide, with up to 40 teams accepted per category. Applicants must complete registration on the association's website between 10 a.m. Monday and 6 p.m. Aug. 21, then submit the application form, proof of enrollment and other required documents by registered mail before the deadline.
