Lotte Engineering & Construction announced Thursday that it received a deputy prime minister commendation at the 15th Information Security Day Ceremony on Wednesday, becoming the only organization to receive the award in recognition of its contributions to information security in South Korea.
The company earned high marks for appointing a chief information security officer and establishing a dedicated information security unit directly under the CEO in 2019, actively collaborating with related agencies and organizations to jointly counter cybersecurity threats, and contributing to raising information security standards across the construction industry in line with government security policy.
Lotte Engineering & Construction also became the first company in the construction sector to obtain Information Security Management System certification in 2017. In 2022, it upgraded to Personal Information and Information Security Management System certification, integrating all areas including pre-sales, move-in, defect management and employee information management. More recently, it expanded the certification scope to include plant operating systems, maintaining information security certification across all company-wide IT systems. Since 2024, the company has voluntarily participated in the information security voluntary disclosure program, which makes public its security investment activities and staffing, and has continued to expand its security investment.
Lotte Engineering & Construction has also built an integrated home network and apartment community system security framework to prevent privacy breaches and other security incidents stemming from hacking of wall-pad home network devices in apartment units. The company has implemented multiple layers of security, including network separation systems and firewalls, and conducts home network security inspections at completed complexes to protect customers' residential spaces.
Internally, the company holds annual information security awareness training for all employees and convenes an information security committee chaired by the CEO to carry out substantive security initiatives.

"We will continue to thoroughly protect the valuable personal information of our customers and employees, and further strengthen our overall security framework both inside and outside the company."
Meanwhile, Lotte Engineering & Construction recently raised 300 billion won ($196.5 million) by issuing asset-backed securities using construction payment receivables. It was the company's second such issuance, following an initial offering in May.
