Ministry of Unification appoints former Hankyoreh editor-in-chief to head national unification education institute

The Ministry of Unification announced Thursday that it has appointed Lee Je-hun, an adjunct professor at the University of North Korean Studies, as head of the National Institute for Unification Education.

Lee previously worked at the Hankyoreh, where he served as head of the unification and diplomacy team, editor of Hankyoreh 21 and head of the social policy desk before becoming editor-in-chief from March 2017 to April 2018. He covered the Ministry of Unification as a reporter until April before applying for the institute post.

The position is a career-open senior civil servant post at Grade A, with a base term of two years extendable to a maximum of five years.
