Bando Construction partners with Baro Construction Technology to develop new safety and defect-prevention technologies

Bando Construction said Thursday it has signed a joint technology development agreement with partner company Baro Construction Technology.

The two companies have begun jointly developing three new technologies — a bend-section reinforcement material, a foundation reinforcement material and a continuous bar chair — and are currently working through the registration process. Each is considered essential to residential construction and is expected to improve safety for on-site workers as well as the day-to-day safety of residents after move-in.

"We plan to go beyond simply building homes that look good, and will continue to grow alongside our partners so that we can achieve worker safety and customer satisfaction at the same time," said Lee Jeong-ryeol, CEO of Bando Construction's construction division. "We will keep working to develop technology that benefits companies, consumers and the environment alike."

All three technologies under joint development are credited with improving on-site construction efficiency while also preventing quality deterioration. They are also expected to reduce the amount of construction materials used — such as rebar and concrete — with positive outcomes for both customer satisfaction and the environment.

Meanwhile, Bando Construction posted sales of 804.1 billion won ($533 million) and operating profit of 54 billion won last year.
