US completes additional strikes on Iran, hitting about 90 coastal military targets

The US military said Wednesday it had completed additional airstrikes targeting Iranian military facilities in response to Iran's attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

US Central Command, which oversees military operations in the Middle East, said on X (formerly Twitter) that it had struck "approximately 90 Iranian military targets along the Iranian coastline," including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage facilities, naval assets, and military supply infrastructure.

CENTCOM said the operation aimed to further degrade Iran's military capacity to attack commercial cargo shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.

The strikes marked the second consecutive day of US airstrikes against Iran. On Tuesday, CENTCOM struck more than 80 Iranian military targets, including about 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small vessels.

CENTCOM said US forces "remain at Alert posture and lethal readiness, prepared to execute operations as directed by the commander in chief," referring to President Donald Trump.

The latest strikes came after the United States attacked multiple sites in southern Iran on Monday, following Iran's assault on commercial vessels it accused of deviating from designated routes. Iran responded by striking US military bases in Bahrain and Kuwait. After the US carried out its additional military operation Wednesday, Iran launched another round of retaliatory airstrikes targeting US military bases in the Middle East.
