Mureung Oseonnyeotang, a nature-friendly water playground inside the Donghae Mureung Health Forest situated between Duta Mountain's Mureung Valley and Mureung Byeolyucheonji, will open Friday and run through Aug. 20 — a total of 42 days.
The facility draws large crowds each summer as a go-to destination for families seeking safe, clean outdoor water activities in a pristine natural setting.
Last year, the site attracted 18,342 visitors over 40 days. This year it returns with five outdoor pools along with a snack bar, restrooms, changing rooms and photo zones. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The city of Donghae plans to staff a water-safety management post at all times to prevent accidents and maintain a safe, comfortable environment. The outdoor pools will be cleaned daily and undergo water-quality inspections twice a week to ensure hygienic conditions for visitors.
Smoking, cooking, drinking alcohol and bringing pets onto the grounds will be prohibited, and the area around the facility will be kept under stricter environmental maintenance.
To promote environmental protection and cleanliness, the city will charge an environmental management fee per vehicle and provide each vehicle with a 10-liter standard waste bag. The measure is intended to encourage visitors to reduce waste and sort recyclables properly.
The Donghae Mureung Health Forest is a wellness tourism destination certified by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, offering visitors a place to enjoy nature and relaxation in every season.
