Open to 3rd–6th graders; applications accepted July 10–21; 200 spots available
Namyangju, led by Mayor Choi Hyeon-deok, will begin accepting applications Friday for the 2026 Namyangju Future Science Camp, open to students in grades 3 through 6 at elementary schools within the city.
The camp combines science performances, cooperative activities and hands-on experience booths into a participatory science program. The city designed it to help students develop scientific thinking and creative problem-solving skills while broadening their understanding of future technology and career interests.
The main program lineup includes a science magic show, a geodesic dome building activity and science experience booths. Participants will engage directly with scientific principles, spatial structures and real-world applications of emerging technology, giving them an accessible and enjoyable introduction to scientific inquiry.
The camp will be held July 30 at the Namyangju Sports and Culture Center indoor gymnasium, split into two showings of 100 students each, for a total of 200 participants.
Applications are open from Friday through July 21 on the city's talent development support center website. Participants will be selected by lottery, with results announced July 22.
Meanwhile, the city said it plans to continue expanding career exploration opportunities that reflect changes in future industries and to develop a range of education programs to help students grow into well-rounded talent prepared for the challenges ahead.
