Huons N, a subsidiary of South Korean biotech group Huons, completed an expansion of its factory at the Geodu Industrial Complex in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, on Thursday.
The expansion added 1,250 square meters to the facility, bringing its total floor area to 4,685 square meters. The company also upgraded production equipment for lactic acid bacteria and red ginseng-based functional ingredients, boosting its manufacturing capacity.
The expansion is also expected to create new jobs at the Chuncheon factory, contributing to local employment.
Huons N is a health functional food company that has operated in Chuncheon since 2006. It produces ginseng and red ginseng products as well as functional ingredients, and has continued to invest in research and development and facility upgrades.
Chuncheon has been providing investment subsidies, tailored administrative support and one-stop investment services to businesses, and plans to continue building a business-friendly environment.
The completion ceremony on Thursday was attended by Huons Group Chairman Yoon Sung-tae, Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Dong-han, Huons N CEO Son Dong-cheol and other company officials, who celebrated the expanded factory and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the company and the local community.
