Jin Kyo-hoon, district mayor of Seoul's Gangseo-gu, visited the "2027 Academic Year Early Admissions Preparation Seminar" at Gangseo Atrium on Thursday to encourage college-bound students and their parents.
Jin expressed empathy for the challenges facing parents of university applicants, recalling his own experience. "I remember going through college entrance guides when sending my two children to university, highlighting the important parts with a marker," he said. "There was a time when I analyzed trends in the admissions system, searched for the latest information, and worried about my children's university admissions just like any other parent."
He added that the admissions landscape is changing so rapidly that success depends heavily on access to information. "I hope that through today's seminar, students will be able to build personalized admissions strategies and land at the university of their choice," he said.
The district organized the seminar to provide students and parents with up-to-date information and support the development of individualized university admissions strategies, in line with the rapidly evolving admissions system.
About 130 students and parents attended the two-hour session.
Yun Yun-gu, a lead EBS admissions strategy instructor and advisory committee member for Ministry of Education education policy, led the session. He offered a range of guidance for successful early admissions applications, including an analysis of the latest admissions trends, strategies for navigating the early admissions process, and an overview of selection criteria at individual universities.
