The Navy said Sunday that a sailor went missing in the East Sea, about 50 kilometers east of Geojin, while the vessel was on a patrol mission.
The Navy is conducting a joint search with the Korea Coast Guard, deploying ships and aircraft to locate the missing sailor. In addition, the Navy has alerted fishing boats and nearby merchant vessels in the area and requested their cooperation in the search.
