Seoul's Dobong-gu has set up children's water playgrounds at multiple locations across the district to give local children a cool place to play this summer.
The district said it will operate five water playgrounds free of charge in July and August — three park-based facilities and two along the Jungnangcheon riverside.
The three park-based playgrounds are located at Darakwon Sports Park (45 Changpowon-ro), Dooly Museum (6 Sirubong-ro 1-gil) and Banghak Four Seasons Square (710 Banghak-dong). All three run through Aug. 31 and are free to use.
Darakwon Sports Park holds six sessions per day on weekends and public holidays and four on weekdays, while Dooly Museum offers four sessions on weekends and public holidays and two on weekdays. Banghak Four Seasons Square runs six sessions on weekends and public holidays and three on weekdays. Every session runs for 40 minutes, followed by a 20-minute break.
The two Jungnangcheon riverside playgrounds serve as the district's signature summer retreat spots. They are situated along the Jungnangcheon riverbank in front of Woori Apartment in Dobong-dong and downstream of Nokcheon Bridge in Changdong, each covering about 800 square meters and equipped with a variety of water play facilities. Both operate through Aug. 23, with six sessions daily.
All playgrounds will suspend operations temporarily during rain, heavy downpours or other adverse weather to ensure visitor safety.
The district said safety management is its top priority. Safety personnel will be stationed at all sites throughout the operating period, and each facility will undergo regular water-quality inspections as well as ongoing checks of electrical and drainage systems and routine cleaning.
The Jungnangcheon playgrounds will be staffed by safety personnel certified in CPR, with daily facility inspections and cleaning and water-quality tests conducted at least once every 15 days. The park-based playgrounds will also undergo water-quality checks at least twice a month to maintain a clean environment.
