Registration opens Tuesday at 2 p.m.; half, 10km and 5km courses available
Siheung city announced Monday that registration for the 2026 12th Siheung National Half Marathon will open on a first-come, first-served basis starting Tuesday at 2 p.m. The race is scheduled for Oct. 5 at 9 a.m. at the second campus of Korea University of Technology and Education on Geobukseom Island.
One of Siheung's signature recreational sports events, the marathon features a course set against the Sihwa Seawall and the West Sea, letting participants take in the city's autumn scenery.
The race offers three individual courses: a half marathon (21.0975 kilometers) departing from the university's second campus, passing along the Sihwa Seawall and returning to the starting point, along with 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer options. The half marathon is open to those 19 and older, the 10km course to those 14 and older, and the 5km course to runners of all ages. Entry fees are 35,000 won ($23) for the half marathon and 10km course and 20,000 won for the 5km course. A total of 5,000 spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This year, the event will introduce a "Siheung Cosplay Run" for the first time, inviting participants to wear costumes and accessories themed around Siheung's tourism, culture and symbols. Outstanding participants will be judged on creativity and overall quality and awarded prizes.
On race day, free shuttle buses will run from Oido Station and Siheung City Hall to the venue.
"We hope this race, set against the scenery of Geobukseom Island and the Sihwa Seawall, will serve as an opportunity to showcase the charm of Siheung to marathon enthusiasts and citizens from across the country," a city official said. "We look forward to your interest and participation."
