Shinhan Bank launches SOL Travel card event with airline gift cards, lounge passes

Shinhan Bank said Monday it will run a promotional event through Aug. 31 for customers holding SOL Travel and SOL Trip series debit cards, marking the launch of SOL LINK, a flagship product of Shinhan Financial Group.

The event is designed to boost customer convenience by linking the won-denominated payment accounts of overseas travel-focused debit cards to SOL LINK accounts, while expanding connected benefits between Shinhan Financial Group's key financial products and lifestyle services. The bank aims to deepen customer engagement by broadening marketing that ties financial products to lifestyle platforms.

Customers can enter by applying for a new SOL Travel or SOL Trip series debit card during the promotional period, or by switching the won payment account on an existing card to a SOL LINK account and registering for the event.

New customers who issue a SOL Travel debit card (Mastercard) or SOL Trip debit card (Visa or JCB) for the first time under the respective international brand and link it to a SOL LINK account will be entered into a draw for prizes. Those include a Korean Air 500,000-won ($332) gift card for two winners, airport lounge passes for 100 winners, and 10,000 My Shinhan Points each for 1,000 winners.

Existing cardholders who switch their won payment account to a SOL LINK account and register can also win a Korean Air 500,000-won gift card for one winner, airport lounge passes for 50 winners, and 10,000 My Shinhan Points each for 1,000 winners.

In addition, eligible customers who spend 10,000 won or more per transaction on the online food delivery platform Ddaenggyeoyo using a qualifying card during the event period will be entered into a draw for a 10,000-won Ddaenggyeoyo coupon, with 1,000 winners selected. This promotion can be entered alongside the card-linking event.

Shinhan Bank will also run a separate four-day promotion from Thursday through Sunday for SOL Trip&J debit card (JCB) holders, offering an instant 10,000-won discount on orders of 20,000 won or more from Kyochon Chicken on Ddaenggyeoyo.

"The SOL Travel and SOL Trip series debit cards have surpassed a cumulative 3.3 million cards issued, establishing themselves as the go-to cards for overseas travel," a Shinhan Bank official said. "With our brand lineup now expanded to include Mastercard, Visa and JCB, we hope customers will enjoy an even wider range of benefits through the SOL LINK and Ddaenggyeoyo tie-in events."
