Noroo Paint & Coatings said Monday it has published its "2025 Sustainability Report," detailing the company's progress on climate change response and supply chain ESG (environmental, social and governance) management.
As ESG disclosure and supply chain oversight emerge as key competitive factors in global markets, South Korea's manufacturing sector is moving quickly to strengthen its sustainability frameworks. The EU's tightening of supply chain due-diligence requirements and growing ESG demands from global customers have prompted more companies to expand environmental disclosures, manage carbon emissions and step up ESG assessments of their suppliers. The paint industry is no exception, with firms increasingly treating eco-friendly product development and carbon-reduction technology as drivers of future growth.
Now in its sixth year, the report was produced to share the company's strategies and performance results in building sustainable competitiveness and to strengthen communication with stakeholders. It underwent third-party verification by a specialized institution to ensure objectivity and reliability, and presents key performance indicators across all three ESG pillars.
Through the report, Noroo Paint & Coatings disclosed its core ESG initiatives and results across six areas: climate change response and greenhouse gas reduction, energy efficiency management, hazardous substance management, eco-friendly product development and business expansion, employee health and safety, and sustainable supply chain development.
On the environmental front, the company participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project assessment to strengthen its climate response capabilities and conducts life cycle assessments to quantify the environmental impact of its products from production through disposal. Building on this, the company plans to advance its eco-friendly product development and environmental management systems while expanding carbon emission reductions, energy efficiency improvements and green technology development — all in pursuit of its medium- to long-term environmental strategy, "Green 2035."
On the social front, the company has made employee health and safety its top priority, pursuing a range of safety management activities while reinforcing its supply chain ESG management framework. It conducts ESG assessments and due-diligence reviews of suppliers and supports their improvement efforts, and operates a grievance intake and resolution system for suppliers to systematically manage ESG risks across the supply chain.
On the governance front, the company held ethical management workshops for staff in key departments including sales and procurement, and participated in the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission's voluntary ethics compliance program. Through these efforts, the company said it has strengthened its compliance management and internal control systems and raised the level of its legal and ethical accountability.
"We will continue to strengthen our sustainability management framework in line with global standards — including climate change response, ethical management and supply chain ESG — and will keep expanding transparent communication with our stakeholders," a company official said.
