Hansol Technics sets up dedicated automotive electronics unit in Mexico with $2M investment

Hansol Technics is establishing a dedicated automotive electronics subsidiary in Mexico, extending its production network — previously centered in Asia — into North America while reorganizing its Thailand and Vietnam operations to sharpen cost competitiveness.

The new Mexican subsidiary will produce electronic shifter components, vehicle interior and exterior LED modules, and wireless charging modules, the company said Monday. The facility will secure a production base close to North American automakers and parts suppliers, cutting logistics lead times and allowing faster responses to customer order changes.

Hansol Technics' board approved the wholly owned subsidiary in April, with a planned investment of $2 million. The investment was scheduled for May 29.

The company's automotive electronics sales grew from 53.9 billion won ($35.8 million) in 2022 to 120.7 billion won in 2025, driven by vehicle lamp control boards, electronic transmission control boards, and wireless charging modules. Hansol Technics supplies these components to automakers including Hyundai Motor.

The scale of the North American market also underpins the push to expand locally. New vehicle sales in the United States reached about 16.3 million units in 2025, the highest since 2019. However, high interest rates and vehicle price pressures are expected to weigh on demand this year, with some forecasts projecting sales to ease to around 15.8 million units.

"This reorganization of our global production network is a strategy to optimize manufacturing functions by region and strengthen customer responsiveness," a Hansol Technics official said. "We will improve production efficiency while reinforcing our competitiveness in high-growth businesses such as automotive electronics and semiconductors."
