Seoul's Gangseo-gu said Friday that its policy advisory panel, formed to drive the successful implementation of campaign pledges under the ninth directly elected administration, concluded two weeks of activity on July 10.
At the launch of the ninth directly elected administration, the district finalized 114 detailed campaign pledge projects across six areas: balanced growth, innovative economy, safe transportation, welfare and health, education and culture, and resident sovereignty.
To carry out those pledges effectively, the district assembled a 15-member advisory panel comprising nine field experts in urban planning, economics, welfare and safety, along with three Seoul Metropolitan Assembly members and three Gangseo-gu Assembly members. The panel officially launched at Gangseo-gu Office on June 26 with a founding ceremony and its first plenary session.
For efficient operations, the panel was divided into three subcommittees — innovation and sovereignty, economy and welfare, and balanced growth and safety. The subcommittees held eight intensive meetings from June 29 through July 9, wrapping up all scheduled activities with a second plenary session on July 10.
Members of each subcommittee heard briefings from the relevant departments on all 114 pledge projects across the six areas and offered expert, multifaceted opinions on the direction of implementation, specific action plans, and areas requiring improvement.
Particularly notable was the panel's expansion of the pledge-review process to include outside experts and local lawmakers, allowing a wider range of perspectives to be reflected. Members closely examined implementation strategies and expected policy outcomes, and discussed practical improvements to ensure residents would feel the results in their daily lives.
Going forward, the district plans to pursue the ninth administration's campaign pledge projects in a more systematic and substantive manner, drawing on the opinions put forward by the advisory panel.
"Campaign pledges are an important promise to residents, so fulfilling them without fail is paramount," Gangseo-gu District Mayor Jin Kyo-hoon said. "We will carefully review the wide range of opinions offered by this policy advisory panel and ensure they translate into results of the highest quality."
