Dobong-gu to provide pregnant residents with eco-friendly produce worth 240,000 won

Dobong-gu in Seoul will provide eco-friendly agricultural products to pregnant residents, aiming to promote healthy eating habits among expectant and new mothers while boosting consumption of environmentally friendly produce.

The program covers 455 recipients in total — mothers who gave birth on or after Jan. 1 last year and women who are pregnant as of the application date. Each recipient will receive 240,000 won ($159) worth of eco-friendly products annually, including organic and pesticide-free produce, processed organic foods, and antibiotic-free livestock products.

Selected recipients can register on the website of the designated supplier, Hansalim, and place orders online. Applications open Wednesday and run through July 28.

Foreigners, people with disabilities, and those without a mobile phone registered in their own name who have difficulty applying online may visit the Parks and Leisure Division at the Dobong-gu district office in person. Recipients will be chosen by lottery, with results announced two weeks after the application deadline.

Dobong-gu has been expanding support for pregnant residents; in 2024, the district offered up to 500,000 won in medical expense subsidies to expectant mothers aged 35 and older.

"I hope this project helps ease the burden of childbirth and child-rearing for pregnant women and also contributes to the growth of eco-friendly farming," District Mayor Kim Dong-wook said.
