'Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle' returns to theaters for 1st anniversary

"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle," which drew 5.7 million admissions last year to become the highest-grossing Japanese animated film ever released in South Korea, is heading back to theaters for its first anniversary.

Aniplus confirmed Tuesday that the film will hold a special anniversary screening in August.

Released on Aug. 22 last year, the film swept the box office "triple crown" in 2025 — topping the charts for opening-day score, total admissions and sales among Japanese animated films — and held the No. 1 spot for 20 consecutive days after its release.

In March, the film returned exclusively to CGV in special-format auditoriums including ScreenX, 4DX and IMAX, drawing more than 110,000 admissions.

The film depicts the final battle between the Demon Slayer Corps and the most elite demons at Infinity Castle, the stronghold of the demon lord. It is the first of three parts in the concluding chapter of the "Demon Slayer" series, covering fierce clashes involving Upper Rank Akaza, Tomioka Giyu and Kamado Tanjiro.

The anniversary screening will include a range of events, among them on-site giveaways for attendees.

The special screening marks the first wide release from Aniplus since its merger with Animax Broadcasting Korea, completed on July 1.

"This special screening carries added significance as the first project to signal the launch of our merged entity," Aniplus said, adding that the combined company would "demonstrate strengthened competitiveness and influence in the domestic animation market, drawing on the content strengths and distribution expertise both companies have built up over the years."
