Shinhan Bank has donated 130 million won ($86,300) to the Gangwon Cultural Foundation to support arts and culture development in Gangwon Province and help ensure a successful staging of the Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival.
The Gangwon Cultural Foundation announced Tuesday that the donation, made by Shinhan Bank's Gangwon Yeongseo headquarters, will go toward the 2026 Pyeongchang Daegwallyeong Music Festival, scheduled for this month.
Now in its 23rd year, the festival — one of South Korea's premier classical music events — runs from July 23 to Aug. 2, featuring 34 performances and more than 60 side events and education programs. Venues include the Alpensia Concert Hall in Pyeongchang, an outdoor stage at Daegwallyeong, and locations across Gangwon Province including Chuncheon, Gangneung, Wonju, Donghae, Hoengseong and Yangyang.
Park Jae-hwan, head of Shinhan Bank's Gangwon Yeongseo headquarters, said it was meaningful to contribute, even in a small way, to establishing the festival as a leading classical music event in South Korea. "We will continue to work to be a source of strength for local communities across culture, the arts and many other areas," he said.
