Hyundai Green Food to launch personalized nutrition app this year after winning government MyData project

Hyundai Green Food announced Tuesday it had been selected as a medical-sector operator under the MyData Service Support Project, a government initiative run by the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) — the first time a food company has won a medical MyData project.

MyData is a service that allows individuals to access personal information held by administrative, public and medical institutions, or to share it with a designated third party, with the individual's consent required for any data transfer. Once established in the medical sector, the system would let people consolidate health and medical data scattered across multiple institutions and link it to health management services.

Hyundai Green Food has operated its care-food brand Greeting since 2020 and earlier this year became the first company in the food industry to obtain a patent for a nutritional diagnosis service.

With this selection, the company plans to develop what it calls a "hyper-personalized healthcare service" by combining medical MyData with food nutrition data, to be released this year. The service will be delivered through an app tentatively named Greeting Care Plus, which will link to medical MyData to provide individualized nutrition analysis reports and suggest meal plans and exercise routines.

The app will integrate users' health checkup results and meal records to generate dietary management guidance. For example, it could recommend high-fiber ingredients to users who need to manage diabetes, and flag whether any of their current medications contain compounds that inhibit fiber absorption.

Hyundai Green Food expects the service to help popularize an "integrated care" model — a welfare model in which people who need care receive medical, nursing and welfare support in their own homes. Elderly care recipients who log their meals and physical activity in the Greeting Care Plus app would be able to send notifications to themselves, their guardians and local governments.

"If healthcare services combining medical MyData become widespread, we can expect not only improvements in disease prevention and management, but also a moderating effect on rising long-term care insurance expenditures," a company official said. "We will use our technology and data to deliver a highly refined healthcare service.".
