Jennie breaks into Billboard Hot 100 top 5, powered by TikTok and radio

Jennie of Blackpink has proven her solo star power once again, breaking into the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in her career.

"Dracula (Remix)," Jennie's collaboration with Australian psychedelic rock band Tame Impala, climbed to No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, rising three spots from the previous week.

The achievement marks the second-highest chart position ever reached by a Blackpink solo act, trailing only Rosé's No. 3 peak on the same chart with Bruno Mars.

The song's success came from an unlikely pairing of new and old media working in tandem.

"Dracula" was originally released in September last year as a Tame Impala solo track, failing to chart on Billboard at all. The tide turned in February when a remix featuring Jennie's vocals and rap was released.

TikTok was the key to the song's breakout. A section of Jennie's rap lyrics — "My friends are saying, 'Shut up, Jennie, just get in the car'" — caught fire on the platform, where its loop-friendly structure sparked a viral "virtual drive" role-play challenge among users worldwide. The short-form viral momentum translated into organic streaming, pushing the track to No. 8 on Spotify's global daily chart and accumulating 400 million streams, connecting Jennie's core fandom with a broader mainstream audience.

Just as the TikTok-driven streaming surge began to plateau, traditional American radio stepped in as a second wind.

"Dracula" logged 59.6 million radio audience impressions, topping the Pop Airplay chart for two consecutive weeks, according to the latest Billboard charts. Major US radio networks embraced the track as mainstream pop, sustaining the chart momentum that TikTok had ignited.

Tame Impala's polished disco production, combined with Jennie's star quality, gave the song both artistic credibility and mass appeal. The track has now held No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 27 consecutive weeks.

This week's Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 belongs to Ella Langley with "Choosin' Texas." Langley became the first female solo artist to hold the top spot with a country song for 13 or more weeks, and the first woman in Billboard history to simultaneously place three country songs in the top four — "Be Her" at No. 3 and "I Can't Love You Anymore" at No. 4. With three songs in the Hot 100 top four at once, Langley joins a list that includes the Beatles, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift, becoming the ninth artist ever to achieve the feat.
