Hong Jin-young, 42, reflects on the preciousness of passing time

Singer Hong Jin-young has opened up about her feelings on the passage of time.

On Monday, Hong posted a video on her social media with the caption "What a waste."

"I'm 42 years old. Lately I keep thinking, 'what a shame,'" she said.

"It's a feeling I didn't really understand in my 20s or 30s — but now the time that's already passed feels precious, and so does each day. The changing of seasons feels precious, and so does the fact that there are still so many things I haven't done. Even the good things I've encountered in life feel like too much to just let slip by."

She then said there were times in the past when she wished would hurry up and pass, but that lately she finds herself wanting time to slow down a little. "So I think I'm trying to take in each moment more carefully and hold onto memories longer and more fully. Even an ordinary day like today will probably feel precious someday."

She added, "Has anyone else ever had a sudden feeling like that — that something precious is slipping away?"

In the video, Hong is seen eating while wearing a black ball cap and a sleeveless top, pausing at one point to smile.

Meanwhile, Hong continues to balance her music career with her role as chief executive of her own cosmetics brand. Born in 1985, she is 42 by Korean age reckoning.
