Yeongcheon city in North Gyeongsang Province announced Tuesday that Ogye-ri Winery's ice wine won gold at the 2026 Vinarium International Wine Contest, the 23rd edition of the Romania-based competition.
The contest, conducted under the strict evaluation standards of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), drew more than 1,400 wines from 20 countries.
Ogye-ri Winery, which claimed the gold, produces red wine, white wines — including Cheongsoo and Geobong varieties — and ice wine.
The winery's ice wine has earned wide recognition at home and abroad, winning gold at the Berlin Wine Trophy for four consecutive years from 2022 through 2025 and being selected as the welcome dinner wine at the 2025 APEC CEO Summit.
"This award is a meaningful achievement that showcases the outstanding taste and quality of Yeongcheon wine to the world," Yeongcheon Mayor Kim Byeong-sam said. "We will continue to provide full technical and administrative support so that wineries in the city can build world-class competitiveness."
