Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS), the fulfillment arm of Coupang Inc., announced Tuesday it will partner with Yeungnam University of Science and Technology to train the next generation of AI- and robotics-based logistics technology professionals.
CFS held an opening ceremony for the AI Logistics Education Center at the university's industry-academia cooperation building in Daegu, where it provided logistics automation equipment. The equipment includes AGVs that transport product-stocked shelves and sorting bots that sort products by delivery destination.
CFS and the university plan to establish an AI logistics automation department, targeting a 2027 launch. Students will complete 28 courses covering logistics management, storage and cargo handling, robot control, industrial safety and production quality management, among other subjects. Graduates who join CFS will receive preferential hiring points.
CFS will also expand a work-study program for vocational high school graduates, linked to an online associate degree curriculum. In March, 74 students from Yeungnam University of Science and Technology's class of 2026 joined CFS. The company plans to expand next year's work-study program intake to triple digits.
"Through this industry-academia partnership with Yeungnam University of Science and Technology, we have laid the groundwork to help young people enter the workforce while giving the company a pipeline of talent," CFS CEO Jeong Jong-cheol said. "We will continue to support local talent in building careers in logistics."
