Rapper Sleepi says son's emergency surgery wiped out his stock gains

Rapper Sleepi said the profits he made from stock investments were entirely consumed by his son's emergency surgery costs.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel "Sleepimajeyo" on Tuesday, Sleepi said his son Nau fell from a chair and struck his forehead and eyebrow area against the corner of a desk.

"The wound tore deep into the muscle beneath the skin, and he had to undergo a 20-stitch suture under sedation," Sleepi said. "The surgical consent form included a note that his eyebrow may not grow back, which has me worried."

A receipt he shared showed the surgery cost 2.88 million won ($1,910).

"All the gains I made from stocks were wiped out by this surgery bill," Sleepi said. He then offered a word of caution to his subscribers: "You have to be careful — about getting hurt, and about your bank balance."

Sleepi had previously shared updates on his stock investments through YouTube, which he said he had started without telling his wife.

At the time, he had invested in SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company and Samsung Electronics preferred shares, with some holdings posting returns of up to 122 percent.

However, he noted the total amount was not large, saying "the money I put in wasn't that much."

Sleepi married a non-celebrity woman eight years his junior in 2022 and has a son and a daughter. He has been actively engaging with the public through parenting-themed entertainment programs and YouTube content.
