Korbit launches digital asset donation campaign with Red Cross to aid independence activists' descendants

Cryptocurrency exchange Korbit announced Wednesday that it signed an MOU with the Korean Red Cross to launch a digital asset donation campaign aimed at supporting descendants of independence movement patriots.

The campaign, titled "Remember 1945 — Supporting Descendants of Independence Patriots," runs from Wednesday through Oct. 15, a period of roughly three months. Korbit members can donate using five digital assets: bitcoin, ether, Ripple (XRP), Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC).

Funds raised through the campaign will go toward the Korean Red Cross's project supporting descendants of those who fought for Korea's independence.

"It is deeply meaningful to work alongside the Korean Red Cross to help the descendants of those who dedicated themselves to our nation's independence," a Korbit official said. "We will actively support efforts to establish digital asset donations as a new channel for aiding independence patriots' descendants, drawing on the transparency and efficiency of blockchain technology."

A Korean Red Cross official said the campaign would provide tangible help and hope to descendants of independence patriots who have long lived in difficult circumstances. "Through our partnership with Korbit, we will work to spread a culture of giving based on digital assets and continue to honor independence patriots and their descendants in society," the official said.

Meanwhile, Korbit ran a separate digital asset campaign with GoodNeighbors, a global NGO specializing in children's rights, from May through August to support children in at-risk households in South Korea.
