Cultural performances from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., films from 7 p.m.
Gyeonggi Province will hold the 2026 Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Lawn Film Festival & Cultural Arts Performance at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government's Northern District Office plaza every Saturday and Sunday in August, as well as on the substitute public holiday on Aug. 17, for a total of 11 sessions running through Aug. 30.
The Gyeonggi Peace Plaza program is one of the province's flagship cultural initiatives, designed to promote healthy cultural engagement and expand everyday access to the arts for residents.
This year, the province has strengthened its cultural arts performance lineup ahead of each film screening to offer audiences a richer experience.
Each session will feature two acts from a diverse range of genres — singer-songwriters, fusion gugak, musicals, magic shows, orchestral performances and popera — with something for audiences of all ages.
Singers Taejong and Yeo-eun, both veterans of multiple music programs, will open the series. Other acts include fusion gugak band Gugaginayo, traditional music ensemble Noreum Machi, South American jazz group Shorusikgu and string orchestra Fromdis String. For younger audiences, magician Nam Woo-seok will perform alongside comedy and bubble-performance acts Funny Gogo and Ukatanka, who will invite the crowd to join in the fun.
Following each performance, the lawn film festival will screen 11 films on a 500-inch outdoor screen, chosen for their broad appeal and artistic merit so the whole family can enjoy them together.
The lineup includes "The King's Warden," a 2026 hit, alongside the warmly reflective "Life Is Beautiful," popular animated features "Frozen 2" and "Neoja 2," the action film "Top Gun: Maverick," and "The Intern," a story about communication and collaboration across generations. The program also includes the Korean independent film "Mannam-ui Jip," offering a window into independent creative filmmaking.
On each Saturday, Sunday and substitute holiday, cultural arts performances featuring magic, music and other acts run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by film screenings starting at 7 p.m. spanning drama, action, animation and other genres. Admission is free and open to all.
