Yongsan-gu (district mayor Kim Gyeong-dae) will host a special lecture on college application strategies for the 2027 academic year's early admissions cycle at 2 p.m. on Aug. 6 at the Kkumnamu Theater inside Yongsan Kkumnamu Comprehensive Town, for students and parents preparing for university entrance exams.
The lecture is designed to ease the burden of college admissions and help students and parents build practical application strategies amid changing university selection processes. About 150 participants are expected, including high school students, exam candidates and parents from within the district.
The session will be led by Park Gwon-u, head of the career and college guidance department at Ewha Womans University's affiliated Ewha Geumnan High School. Park is the author of the bestselling college admissions guide "Subak Meokgo Daehak Ganda" and is widely recognized as one of South Korea's leading university admissions experts.
The lecture will cover key information needed for submitting applications, including the characteristics of each admissions track for the 2027 early admissions cycle, major changes by university, strategies for the student record-based comprehensive and subject-based tracks, how to use the College Scholastic Ability Test minimum score requirements, and application tips for individual universities.
University admissions in South Korea change year by year in terms of enrollment numbers, selection frameworks and student record evaluation methods, making accurate information and strategic planning increasingly important.
With the 2027 early admissions application window set to open in the second week of September, the lecture is expected to give students a concrete opportunity to identify the universities and admissions tracks best suited to them and map out their application plans.
Registration is open through Aug. 3 via the Yongsan Jinhak Pass, a district college-guidance platform, and will close early if capacity is reached.
