Monami launches Liberation Day edition pen, donates all proceeds to independence patriots' descendants

Stationery company Monami announced Monday it is releasing the "BP153 Liberation Day 81st Anniversary Edition" to mark the 81st anniversary of Liberation Day, with all sales proceeds to be donated to support the descendants of independence movement patriots.

The product is a five-pen set based on Monami's signature BP153 ballpoint pen. It comprises four designs honoring the spirit of poet Yun Dong-ju, independence activist Ahn Jung-geun, poet Yi Yuk-sa and independence activist Yu Gwan-sun, along with one design featuring a Liberation Day commemorative phrase. The pens' signature hexagonal bodies are engraved with symbols and phrases associated with each patriot, enhancing their collectible appeal.

All proceeds from sales of the "BP153 Liberation Day 81st Anniversary Edition" will go toward supporting the descendants of independence movement patriots. Buyers can both reflect on the meaning of Liberation Day and contribute to that cause through their purchase. The edition is available at Monami's Naver brand store, Monami stores and stationery shops nationwide, priced at 6,000 won.

Monami is also running a social media event in collaboration with the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans and the Independence Hall of Korea. Participants who leave a comment on a Liberation Day-related post on any of the three organizations' Instagram accounts will be entered into a draw to win the edition. The company also plans to sponsor the ministry's public participation events with the product, aiming to raise awareness of independence patriots and help consumers connect with the historical significance of Liberation Day in their everyday lives.

Monami has released Liberation Day commemorative editions each year as part of ongoing corporate social responsibility efforts to honor the spirit of patriotism. The company has also sponsored the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans' "Korea Memorial Festa," participated as a supporting sponsor in the charity marathon "815 Run," and carried out a range of activities designed to help the public engage with history naturally.
