Korea Investment & Securities said Monday it has become the first in the industry to introduce a real-time total pension asset valuation feature.
The new function, accessible through the company's mobile trading system (MTS), allows customers to track real-time balance changes in cash-equivalent assets held in pension accounts — information that had not previously been available on the platform.
Rolled out Friday, the feature lets customers monitor real-time balance changes across ETFs, real estate investment trusts (REITs), listed infrastructure funds and cash-equivalent assets held in pension accounts, viewable from both individual account screens and the total asset menu.
Previously, cash balance changes resulting from ETF investments were only reflected on screen on the actual settlement date (T+2). The update now allows customers to see a full picture of their asset holdings in real time.
The upgrade is part of a broader effort to enhance the MTS in step with the rapid growth of ETF investment within pension accounts. Korea Investment & Securities has previously introduced a range of features aimed at improving the convenience of non-face-to-face pension investing, including an automatic ETF installment purchase service and an exchange-traded bond trading service.
A promotional event running through Sept. 30 will mark the service launch. Customers who transfer assets held in individual retirement pension (IRP) or defined contribution (DC) accounts at other brokerages to Korea Investment & Securities will receive a 30,000 won mobile gift voucher, with a choice of Naver Pay, Shinsegae gift certificates or Baemin.
"We have upgraded our service so that any Korea Investment & Securities customer can clearly check their real-time balance and invest in their pension with confidence," said Choe Jong-jin, head of the pension innovation division. "We will continue to make it easier and more intuitive for customers to manage their assets."
Korea Investment & Securities is also running a domestic stock investment competition called "Han-tu Battle" for four weeks through Sept. 4. Participants compete based on cumulative returns from domestic stock trading during the contest period.
Registration is available through the Korea Investment & Securities MTS and website. Participants can choose from four leagues based on investment asset size: the 100 million won league, the 30 million won league, the 1 million won league and the 100,000 won league.
Starting with this competition, a "friend invitation challenge" has also been introduced. Customers who recommend the competition to acquaintances — including family members, friends or colleagues — who hold a Korea Investment & Securities account will receive benefits, as will the friends who register through the invitation.
Korea Investment & Securities has recently focused on strengthening customer convenience. The company has revamped the domestic stock and ETF price screens and the ISA management function within its "Korea Investment" app. It has also partnered with global financial data platform Investing.com, virtual asset exchange Coinone, and major internet banks including Kakao Bank, Toss Bank and K bank to offer account-opening integration services.
