Sangmidang Holdings foundation wraps youth baking program, covering all costs

The Happy Foundation of Sangmidang Holdings said it successfully completed the "My Dream Is Patissier" baking and pastry training program, which ran Thursday through Friday.

The program was organized as part of the foundation's "My Dream Is Patissier" child and youth baking support project, designed to give young people who aspire to careers in baking and pastry the chance to learn from professionals and experience the working world firsthand.

Eight participants were selected from among youth who had previously taken part in the "My Dream Is Patissier" program, with the Happy Foundation covering all participation costs. The project, which launched in 2012, is a corporate social responsibility initiative hosted by the Happy Foundation and organized by the nonprofit Busureogi Love Sharing Association. It provides education subsidies and scholarships and holds baking competitions.

On Thursday, participants took part in a professional baking session at Paris Croissant's Culinary Academy, where they honed their skills by making "Gateau Pistachio Peach," a French-style cake using pistachio and peach. On Thursday, the program moved to Fashion5 in Hannam-dong and the Baskin-Robbins Workshop in Dogok-dong, where students sampled products and toured the stores through a guided docent program.

"We created this opportunity so that young people with dreams in baking and pastry could receive education from professionals, experience the field firsthand, and take concrete steps toward their career goals," a Happy Foundation official said. "We hope this training helped the participants deepen their understanding of baking and pastry and brought them one step closer to their dreams."
