The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), led by President Yoo Seung-min, renewed a memorandum of understanding on personal data protection and information security cooperation with the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation and the Korea Paralympic Committee on Wednesday at Olympic Hall in Seoul.
The renewed MOU aims to strengthen the personal data protection and information security framework among public institutions in the sports sector and to establish a foundation for swift, coordinated responses when data breaches or security incidents occur.
Under the agreement, the three organizations will cooperate on sharing the latest technology and incident case studies related to personal data protection and information security, collaborating on education and awareness campaigns for staff, jointly responding to data breaches and security incidents, and holding regular working-level consultations and exchanges of best practices among the organizations.
The three bodies first signed a cooperation agreement on personal data protection in 2024, then followed up in 2025 with a joint information and data protection campaign and a workshop for data protection officers. The latest renewal expands the scope to include information security.
"Building on this agreement among our organizations' leaders, we will further expand practical cooperation and continuously raise the level of information protection through stronger personal data safeguards and cybersecurity for athletes and sports personnel," Yoo said.
